(ORIGINAL)Say goodbye to facial hair with these 5 epilators

The problem: Whether we like it or not, all women have facial hair. It might be some fluff or those nasty coarse hairs. Luckily there is a solution to this unavoidable problem: A few of the best Epilators you can use on your face.

No woman should ever feel self-conscious about her facial hair. Whether it’s thick, coarse hair or thinner fluffy hair. Either way the ones as bad as the other. We never asked for hair on our upper lip or chin. Not to mention those sideburns!

Having facial hair doesn’t make you different or a freak of nature. You should never feel pressured to remove facial hair because of others judgments. Do it for yourself and boost your self-confidence.

Even I have dark, noticeable hair on my sideburns. At the moment I epilate a lot of hair all over my body and my sideburns are the least of all my hair related worries. Someday I might feel the need to remove it, or maybe never. But nobody except me will influence that decision.

Considering all my facial hair, maintaining my upper lip hair and tweezing my eyebrows seems more than enough. I’ll just stick to that!

Why an epilator for your face?
Simply because hair removing creams and shaving don’t last and are extremely time-consuming. I love to shave every two days – said no woman ever!
An epilator makes life so much smoother – pun intended.
The results of an epilator are similar to waxing. If you are currently using wax strips with no problems, stick to it. I use it on my upper lip and see no reason to do it differently after many successful sessions.
The biggest benefit of an epilator is smooth skin for two weeks or even a month. Because it removes hair from the root, the results will last longer.
Using a face epilator will, in the end, save you money. When you already purchased the epilator, you will only have to replace the batteries. This might not even be necessary for some epilator models.
How to find a suitable epilator for your face:
Before making any decisions, there is one question you have to ask and answer yourself.
Do you want an epilator to remove just your facial hair? Or do you need a more advanced epilator for facial hair as well as hair removal for the rest of your body?
I will review both epilators in this post in hope to help you choose the perfect epilator for your specific needs.
As I mentioned, you might have fluff or coarse hair. This will actually be your best guide to a suitable epilator. If you’re not sure, fluffy hair is quite thin and similar to peach fuzz. If not, it’s most likely thicker coarse hair.
Here’s the catch …
Many epilators designed to remove facial hair just aren’t strong enough for stubborn coarse hair. It only cuts off the hair from the surface of the skin. It totally misses the point of pulling out hair from the root.
Because an epilator is rather big, you will have to stick with your tweezers for your eyebrows. Removing hair from the upper lip, sideburns and chin is no challenge for an epilator.
Using tweezers to remove facial hair hurts, so don’t expect an epilator to be painless. The upside – It is very easy to use. Just move it gently across the skin in the opposite direction of your hair growth. The epilator removes a lot of hair at once so it will hurt a bit more than your usual tweezing routine. But yet another upside- Soon you will get used to the pinching feeling and it will save you loads of time.
Here are some of my recommendations:
1. Emjoi Epi Slim AP-9L
This epilator is designed specifically for removing facial hair. This model is cheaper because it has a restricted tweezed head. It will not be as effective in other parts of the body. The Epi Slim can be used for the bikini line and underarms, but won’t be as fast and powerful as a normal epilator. After about two weeks without maintaining hair on your underarms and bikini line, the hair becomes coarser. With the Emjoi removing coarser hair will take longer than with a regular epilator.
Some epilators are small and only has 6 tweezers. The Epi Slim has 9 tweezers but is still a small, manageable device. The 3 extra tweezers make it a stronger epilator and removing coarse facial hair from the root won’t be a problem.
It uses 2 AA batteries, unlike other models that only use one AA battery. This proves that the Emjoi is a more powerful and durable device.
The device comes with a cleaning brush. I would suggest washing your epilator every now and then. Hygiene is always important!
Would I recommend the Emjoi Epi Slim?
Of course! It definitely does a great job at removing hair from the root without breaking them. It will work for either fluff or coarse facial hair.
I would not recommend the Epi Slim if you are looking for an epilator for hair removal on your legs, bikini line, hands etc. You might be better off with a regular epilator that works all over the body including the face.

2. Braun 820 Facial Epilator with Facial Cleansing Brush
We have been waiting in anticipation for Braun to launch a facial epilator. The immediate difference between this epilator and the previous Emjoi Epi Slim is the price. Because it includes a facial cleansing brush Braun’s facial epilator is not as affordable.
Let’s first look at the epilator before reviewing the facial brush. After all the epilator is the most important factor to consider.
The Braun Facial Epilator and Cleansing Brush range have 3 additions. The 810 model, the 820 model and the most expensive 830. The price of the 830 model can be compensated with a lighted mirror and beauty pouch. It is also the premium edition of the range.
The Braun 810 and 820 are more or less the same price but the 820 includes a refill for the facial brush. After considering all 3 models the 820 is the best deal.
What? There’s a bonus?
To me, this is the best part. The Braun 820 is a very good-looking device. Besides being attractive, it can reach small areas with its slim head. With its particular shape, you will have more precise results. It works perfectly for the hair in the space between your eyebrows.
The 820 model is also a quite powerful device. It consists of 10 tweezers that can easily remove coarse hair. Peach fuzz-like hair is also no match for the 820. This device is suitable to use in any area of your face and removes hair from the root.
Now for the cleansing brush:
A facial cleansing brush is no doubt one of the best ways to exfoliate. I am a big supporter of facial cleansing brushes. This specific Braun facial brush works with circular motions. However, these rotations make zits and breakouts worse. It is not recommended for people with acne, zits or breakouts.
This is a great epilator, but does it sound too good to be true?
Unfortunately, there have been many user complaints. It works great until it doesn’t. The device has an extremely short battery life and when replacing the battery the epilator just stops working. Another complaint is just plain battery failure.
With its unique shape and powerful 10 tweezers, I was thrilled to recommend the Braun 820 facial epilator. But reconsidering it is not worth the price. The device needs a lot of power in order for it to work. Maybe Braun should have considered a rechargeable battery? It would have been more value for money!
Thus, if you want an epilator for facial uses only your best option is the Emjoi Epi Slim AP-9L. Currently, there are only two facial epilators available: the Emjoi and Braun. Luckily the Emjoi Epi Slim has been proven to have a decent lifetime.
Check out the other two models I listed below. These epilators are for both face and body!

3. Braun Silk Epil 7 Expressive 7681
This device is absolutely amazing at doing what it is supposed to do. The Braun Silk Epil 7681 is one of the best. It removes hair from legs, underarms, bikini line, face etc. It is obviously more expensive but you get an all-in-one device.
Since you can use it all over the body it has a lot more tweezers and is very powerful. So how is it possible that it is safe to also use on your face?
This is where it gets interesting.
The Braun Silk Epil 7 includes a facial cap. This is an essential accessory that helps make this model one of the best. It is a very slim cap that reduces the amount of tweezers reaching the surface of the skin. Thus perfect to remove hair on the upper lip, sideburns or chin.
It eliminates hair from the root, whether it’s fluff or coarse hair. It is very important to use the facial cap when trimming hair on your face. Remove the facial cap when using it for the rest of your body. The reason is because it is a very strong epilator.
You can use this model in wet and dry conditions. It charges for an hour and can then be used for 40 minutes while cordless. 40 minutes is more than enough time to trim your facial hair. A single charge will definitely be enough.
I honestly think this is an excellent all-in-one epilator. I can confidently recommend it to all women. If you want an epilator for both face and body Braun Silk Epil 7 is the model for you. It just makes sense to buy one good product instead of 2 epilators for 2 different purposes.

4. Braun Silk Epil 9
I purchased the Silk Epil 9561 out of pure curiosity. It is said to be the best epilator for 2016. If so it will stay the best for a few years until newer models are released. I wanted to see if it was really as great as they say it is.
Honestly, I can truly say that Braun’s new range is incredible. It is now officially also my personal favorite. In my opinion, it works especially good for the removal of facial hair.
Some epilators in the Braun Silk Epil 9 range includes a facial cap while others don’t. If you are unsure of what accessories you might need, stick to the 9579 model. It has a massage rollers cap, facial cap, skin contact cap, trimmer and shaving head cap, facial cleansing brush and a charging stand. It contains all the gadgets you can think of.
The 9561 model that I purchased just doesn’t include the exfoliating facial cleansing brush. If you don’t see the need to all these accessories there are models with fewer gadgets. They will also be cheaper.
Let me share my epilator experience with you …
I’m not going to lie, it was painful. And I am used to the pain of waxing. After 8 years of waxing the epilator was quite a different sensation. The epilator felt like it pulled the hair from the root slowly and evenly while waxing removes more hair at once.
To describe it to you, it’s something like itching with pain. Prepare yourself when you get to the little dent on your upper lip. That was the worst of all the facial hair.
But you will be pleased to know that the pain was definitely worth it. I have some peach fuzz and coarse hair. Both were successfully removed!
I only used the first speed setting of the epilator. I tried the facial cap and the massage rollers cap. In the end, I used the facial cap the most. The massage rollers, for me, was more painful.
Up to date, I have only used my Braun Silk Epil 9561 two times. After about 3 weeks the hair on my upper lip started showing. I only got around to removing it 4 weeks later. I would suggest you keep a routine of epilating every two weeks. By this time I had a lot more and thicker upper lip hair. This caused it to be more painful than the previous time.
Even though the Braun Silk Epil 9 range is expensive it’s definitely worth every cent. It is one of the best facial epilators and is great for the rest of your body as well. It is a strong and durable device that works for all types of hair. What more do need?

5. Alternative to Rotary Facial Epilators – Bellabe
This is a manual epilator that can replace a rotary facial epilator. Over the last few years, it has become a favorite for many. I will tell you more about the Bellabe and then you can decide if it will work for you.
It has two handles with a spring in between. It seems expensive for a very simple epilator, but it works really well for most users. Unfortunately, it only removes thin fluffy hair. If you have coarse facial hair the Bellabe won’t meet your needs. In that case, I still highly recommend the Emjoi Epi Slim or one of the Braun epilators.
Since it is manual, you will need to know how to use it.
First, hold the handles and pull them until the spring is in a U-shape. Using your thumbs move it with an in and out motion. The hair is then removed from the root as it gets trapped into the coil and pulled out. You will have to use the Bellabe on the same area a few times to get rid of all the hair. The results will also last more or less two weeks.
Why would I recommend the Bellabe?
It removes hair quickly, it’s affordable with long lasting results and not complicated to use. The best advantage of the Bellabe is that it can never damage your skin and is thus very low risk. Also, skin irritations won’t be a big concern for you.
Like any other epilator, it is painful, but you get used to the sensation soon enough. The instructions indicate that you should only use it on your upper lip, chin and cheeks. Don’t try it on your eyebrows and stick to the guidelines given.
